We provide tuberculosis testing for individuals who require it for overseas visas, employment, education, or other purposes.
Chest X-ray examinations are also available at our clinic.
What Is a Tuberculin Skin Test (PPD)?
This test is used to confirm that you are not infected with tuberculosis and may be required for documents submitted to an overseas school or for a visa application.
Two visits are required. During the first visit, the test solution is injected into the skin. You must return 48 hours later—or no later than 72 hours after the injection—to have the reaction assessed. Please make sure that you can return after 48 hours before scheduling your first appointment.
In Japan, most people receive the BCG vaccine against tuberculosis during childhood. Therefore, the test may produce a positive result even if you are not infected with tuberculosis (a false-positive result). In such cases, a chest X-ray or an interferon-gamma release assay using a blood sample (T-SPOT, available at our clinic) may be required.
We recommend checking with the organization to which you will submit your results in advance regarding what procedures are required if you receive a false-positive result.

What Is a T-SPOT.TB Test (Interferon-Gamma Release Assay for Tuberculosis)?
This blood test accurately determines whether you are infected with tuberculosis bacteria. Results take five days.
It is a secondary, more detailed test performed when tuberculosis infection is suspected based on a tuberculin skin test or chest X-ray.
Testing is available from Monday through Saturday only. Testing is not available on Sundays or public holidays.
